At beginning of the year, while having conversations with my friends, the subject of one word came up. We had all shared with one another what our one words were. Due to the conversation being so meaningful, I thought I’d give my beautiful friends some spotlight to share their one word with you too. Maybe it will encourage you to share your one word with your friends. If you don’t have one, maybe it will encourage you to find one. You can find my one word here if you haven’t already.
“I finally have a word for my year. I’ve never had one before.”

Dawn
Abide: to dwell, remain or be present.
To be held and kept!! Isn’t that beautiful?
Abiding addresses our posture and our place.
Minding blowing right?? It was for me. See, I personally have never had a word for the year. I don’t know about you, but 2023 was not my friend. I wish I could have fast forwarded or skipped right over it!
But when God spoked to me in the middle of my disaster, all I could hear was “Abide”. Many times. So, I thought to myself. Umm! There must be a reason. My digging began.
When I read the definition above, I was so moved. Holy Spirit spoke to me in such a way!! Abide has now become my one word! My anthem so to speak. I need to be held by our Father. Through the hard times and the unknown. He will hold you. Trust Him.
He is such a good good Father.
Another definition says to remain, stay fixed. Stable.
Y’all, God is stable and He never fails!
How cool is this?? Our loving Father wants us to sit with Him and let Him hold us. He isn’t just going to wash everything away in a second. There is glory in the fire. Trust the process. Pain in the process. That’s how we learn how to be who God has created us to be. Get into that quiet place and listen to the Lord. Silence yourself. What is God saying to you?
“I’m glad to have one word to give me the little push I need.”

Progress is my word of the year.
It’s seemingly an ordinary word that many people use throughout their days in some areas. But, have you sat with the word to ponder the true meaning?
I know that many people say that “Rome wasn’t built in a day”…not that I like the idea of Rome or what they stood for because ultimately the Romans crucified our Jesus at the request of the Sanhedrin. But it wasn’t built in a day.
Neither is our relationship with Jesus. It has to be cultivated and precisely built on prayer and studying God’s word.
This year I want progress in my relationship with Jesus. I want progress in my personal relationships, and in my small business. I have to obtain those goals with work. Hard work. I have to go beyond the surface level of “just happy” with what I’m happy to accomplish alone.
I know I can never do anything in my own strength, but I can with Jesus.

“I thought about it and sought the Lord for my one word.”

My word for 2024 is “Intentional”.
It had been 2 or more years since I had heard anyone mention having, asking, or seeking the Lord for a “Word” for the year.
So, as I thought about it and sought the Lord for my word, it became clear that my word for 2024 is “Intentional”.
Intentional means that something is done with purpose. Something is made with purpose. To perform with intent.
I intend to be intentional with my time spent with the Lord in prayer and in the Word. I desire to take on more of His character and to be able to withstand the enemy.
Also, I want to be intentional with my health. This is the only body I have here on earth. It belongs to God. I am leaning on Him to direct me on this journey.
There’s a common denominator.
For my friends and me, our one word has one common denominator. His name is JESUS. Jesus will always be the reason. I hope that you were blessed by Dawn, Christy, and Cheryl.
