Turn Down the Noise Challenge with Accompanying Bible Reading Plan

Do you ever have moments where you feel that God is silent? Like He’s not speaking to you or answering your prayers? Like you can’t hear His voice? You have been asking, seeking, and knocking but still….. nothing. Has the feeling that God is silent made you question if you’re capable of hearing from God at all? Have you begun to doubt if you’re worthy of hearing His voice?

I get it. I’ve been there. I too wanted to know if God is ever silent. And in my searching for the answer, I found out that GOD IS NEVER SILENT

“God speaks through a variety of means. In the present God primarily speaks by Holy Spirit, through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the Church.” ~Henry Blackaby

God’s desire is that all of creation will hear His voice. It’s a blessed benefit of having a personal relationship with Him. And guess what? It is not a one-sided thing. He wants to communicate with us and for us to communicate with Him. For that to not be happening means that there is a disconnect somewhere.

Here’s what it boils down to:

When it comes to the moments that we feel we are not hearing from God, it really boils down to two things:

1. We are too distracted.

Today, there are many things that pull for our attention, so-much-so, that it is easy for us to get distracted. We can’t hear Him because of all the things we have to do with our families, in our homes, with our friends, or at work, even at church. When we do have a moment to spend with God, we have a hard time focusing. Right? 💁🏾‍♀️😁

2. We are tuned into the wrong frequency.

There’s a dial on the radio of our lives, but it’s tuned into the wrong frequency. Instead of being able to hear the voice of God, we hear that of everybody else. We hear that of the stranger’s. And it is the very opposite of what God intends for us. His desire is that we hear and know His voice and His voice alone.

Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” ~John 10:5

A challenge is in order!

As always, there is good news! We are not without not without hope. We can do something about it.

I am calling us into a challenge to “Turn Down the Noise.”

A challenge that is calling us to return to our First Love. A challenge that is calling us to remove all distractions and to tune into the right frequency. The frequency of God. To hear His voice and to know for sure that it’s His voice we hear.

What’s the challenge? Simply take 30 minutes a day for 30 days, in the month of April, to do nothing but sit in silence before God, with one expectation only…to hear God speak.

I speak from experience when I say that to not be able to hear God speak makes me feel as if I’m so far away from Him. Can you relate? This challenge will give us all the chance to draw near to Him again and hopefully put us in a place where we will begin to feel near to Him all the time.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.... ~James 4:8

I bet there are some things that God has been wanting to say to you. I also bet that you want to know what God has to say. Now is your opportunity to draw away from the norm, get into the presence of God and ask, “Father God, what have You been wanting to say to me?”

Join me, starting April 1st, and let’s practice the art of silence so that we can hear God speak.

Why 30 minutes?

Let’s face it, finding time for anything of value is a challenge in today’s society. The way of the world today is one of everything fast, rushed, comfortable, and convenient. Sad but true. However, it will surprise you that where you think you don’t have the time, you actually do. It’s called a challenge for a reason. I’m challenging you to make the time.

Spending time with God does not have to be done for hours. It is a great blessing to be able to do so, true enough. Let me make something clear, the most important thing about taking this challenge is not how much time you spend at all. It’s about the fact that you are willing to be intentional to take the time to sit and listen for God to speak. It’s about the position that you are choosing to take should you join the challenge. The art of 30 minutes is to get you to realize that you can start small.

As I’ve already shared, God does speak. In order to hear Him, we must take the time to learn about the many ways in which He does speak. One way He communicates is through the Bible. The Bible is the Word of God given to us to equip us to do His will. As a Believer in God, you have the privilege of having God’s Holy Spirit living inside of you. It is through cultivating your relationship with Him that Holy Spirit will teach you how to be attentive to the voice of God through His word. With that being said, a tool has been created for you.
